Pupp Cafe on the Southside of Dublin

Pupp Cafe on Clanbrassil St in Dublin 8 is a long-time family favourite for both me and Toffee (my 2-year old Cardigan corgi pup).

A 5-minute walk from the Robert Emmet bridge on the Grand Canal, Pupp Cafe is about as dog-friendly as a cafe can be. The tables include hooks for leads (dogs must be leashed at all times), water bowls, and doggie cushions.

But Pupp isn't just for the four-legged. The cafe describes itself as a "cozy yet modern take on urban dining and the menu bears this out. The weekday lunch and weekend brunch include con temporary standards like Feta Egg with Avocado, Blueberry Pancakes, and Falafel Burgers. For my money you can't beat the Hot Chick Ciabatta, chicken and homemade slaw with Sriracha mayo on a soft ciabatta.

If you fancy an evening jaunt, the dinner menu manages to entice both vegetarians and meat-lovers alike. The "Jurassic Pork" burger is a behemoth of barbecued pulled pork and slaw on an onion bap. Veggies should explore the "Greek Chic" Halloumi burger with roasted red peppers topped with tzitziki dressing - yum!

A final word must go to the secret garden tucked away at the back of the cafe behind the boutique shop. OK, it's pokey, but the chic decor and sunshine make it worth the trouble.

***Tip**
Give your furry friend to his own mealtime treat from Pupp's Doggie menu. Our little corgi goes wild for the Pick & Mix with freeze-dried chunks of venison and blueberry, duck and plum, and oats and vegetables. Let him wash it down with doggie tea or dog beer. It really is a dog's life!
